Themed Icons that aren't assigned to the App Drawer

As I gear up to write about Apex Launcher as part of my launcher challenge, I thought about something which I've never quite understood with respect to some icon packs - that being why don't certain app icons which do exist in the icon pack theme themselves in the app drawer, and why don't themers take the steps necessary to mend this annoyance?

Before I start, this post is not a rant about themers/devs not having themed an app I have - I realise I'm more than capable of emailing the themers/devs with a list of app icons I'd like to see themed. This post is questioning why when I sift through the often extensive list of icons in an icon pack, and actually find a themed icon for the Chrome app for instance, that the icon itself isn't themed in the app drawer to begin with.

Moving on from my last post, I've replenished my "Google Dollars" and have continued my spending spree in the Play Store. I've gone ahead and bought another icon pack from the brilliant, Kovdev - whose work I've frequently paid for in the past. Kovdev's icons are of the highest quality and feature an array of icons, and each icon pack you purchase comes as an app with wallpapers and a skin for your dock bar. For my most recent purchase, I went with the MineCraft icon pack due to my absolute addiction to the game at the moment, but I was dismayed at what I found after I selected the theme on Apex.

A large majority of icons were not only not themed, but most of these could be found after scrolling through the icon pack. I know it wouldn't mean a great deal to those who rarely stray from their homescreens, but I nitpick at little things like these because I'm a perfectionist. If you wonder why I mention Apex, it's because newer and more popular launchers such as Apex and Nova are unlike the old days of ADW where if icons weren't themed, it would leave the default icon as it was. If the icon pack is supported, icons that aren't fully themed are still themed enough for people like me not to a flip a table in disgust. But because of how heavily themed the MineCraft icon pack is, this isn't possible, and because of this, icons for apps like Chrome and even your standard Camera app stick out like sore thumbs in your app drawer.

lightly themed in Apex

I don't know if the cause for these inconsistencies is because these icon packs tend to have multiple icon variants for the one app and for some reason, no particular themed icon is ever assigned to the app drawer by default, but I'd like for something to be done about it. I don't mind if a themed camera icon in the app drawer isn't my favourite of the other four in your icon pack - so long as it's themed in the app drawer I'm satisfied. After all, I can always select one of your other four camera icons for my homescreen configuration.

Is it too much to ask for themers/devs to assign a themed icon to the app drawer by default?
