Rant: People who use voice assistants public

With Motorola and Google's (though it should be the other way round) push for "Touchless Control" as one of the Moto X's significant features, it's got me thinking: "how comfortable do you feel using a voice assistant in public?"

Maybe it's a silly question, but I think it's worth asking as from what I've observed on public transport, on the streets, and in classrooms - using voice assistants such as Google Now (though it's often Siri I overhear) is becoming increasingly apparent, and it's really rather annoying. I can only think it takes either incredible courage or self-absorption to have those around you put up with incessant beeps and chimes.

I love the idea of Touchless Control on the Moto X, and believe the feature can only do wonders for users in given situations - but I just don't think I'm quite ready for a world where we can never be too far from a beep in the public sphere. It's already happening (and believe me when I say this) - people sitting on crowded trains, spamming the mic button on Google Now because it can't hear their voice properly, and for some reason or other, they can't be bothered to type in their query manually. Or in classrooms, where people feel content to use Siri while tutors are speaking to the class.

Is this what our world is coming to?

I understand the point in using a voice assistant when you're on your own, and certainly the Moto X's Touchless Control feature appears to be marketed that way, but having the daring to use these services outside of a group of friends and people you know won't have an issue with your doing so is quite silly and inconsiderate.

This rant doesn't apply to those whom have the decency to use their ear/headphones so as to not make it known that they're utilising these services, and I think if people we're to use voice assistants in public, that this is indiscreet option is the way to go about it.
